Pittsburgh Onward Israel Internship Program

Develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship side by side with Israeli peers. This 8-week Tel Aviv based internship program places you in a work place based on your skills, interests and future plans. Intern four days a week while one day a week will be devoted to learning about and experiencing contemporary Israeli society. Outside of your placement, spend quality time with Israelis and explore Tel Aviv’s exciting nightlife, beaches and culture. Home hospitality weekend in Pittsburgh’s Partnership communities of Karmiel and Misgav in the Central Galilee and a weekend retreat with Jewish students from across North America and the world. Opportunities will be available to learn about the Pittsburgh community’s investment in Israel and how to create Israeli engagement back in Pittsburgh through this experience.

COST
Onward Israel: Pittsburgh 2024 has a $999 program fee.
Includes lodging, insurance, transportation and program costs. Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights. 

This Onward Israel program is heavily subsidized by the Jewish Agency, the Beacon and Shapira Foundations, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Onward Israel program is organized by Sachlav.

The actual cost of the Onward Israel program is much higher, and is subsidized up to 70% by Onward Israel, private donors, and local Jewish communities and institutions.

ACCOMODATIONS

Live in apartment style housing in the heart of Tel Aviv with access to the beach, markets, restaurants, and nightlife.

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
Open to students from the Pittsburgh community or who are attending college or university in Pittsburgh, with preference given to underclassmen. For students who have had one previous short-term Israel experience- Birthright or a teen travel program. Eligible participants may be able to combine their Taglit-Birthright Israel experience with Onward Israel.
